Like most people, Ashley felt a little weird in front of the camera at first, but as the session went on she became more and more comfortable and by the end she was totally working it! She has such a great sense of style and a carefree personality– Ashley I so enjoyed hanging out with you! Thank you for the privilege of documenting this fun time in your life!

Last week they went up to Memphis to meet the birth family and little Hannah and they stayed up there for a week working through details. Originally they had planned for me to go up to Memphis to photograph them there, but the logistics and details were so unknown that it didn’t work out. However, I am thrilled that I was able to meet them last night when they arrived home and document Hannah being welcomed home for the first time.

She was greeted by friends, her aunt and little cousin. There was much oohing and aahing, lots of smiles and Aaron and Leslie recounting the events of the past week. Thank you both for the privilege of being able to take part in such a precious time in your lives. I can’t wait to watch Hannah grow!

Recently I had the opportunity to be part of an event that I will not soon forget. Some sweet friends of mine have been going through the adoption process and after mounds of paperwork and everything else required to be approved as an adoptive family they received a call that there was a little boy needing a family. They waited with much joy and anticipation for the day to arrive for them to finally meet their son. Several weeks ago, knowing that they could receive a call any day, I told them that I would love to photograph any part of the process they wanted me to–whether that be the actual exchange of getting their precious baby or something afterward.

After they found out they were getting their sweet baby boy they asked me to come along with them to the adoption agency and photograph the actual exchange of them receiving him. I was thrilled and totally humbled to be able to document such a sweet event.  So, I went with them and photographed their anticipation, abundant joy and contentment as they welcomed their son into their family.

There are tears in my eyes as I type this, because nothing that I have ever photographed has touched my soul as this did. What a privilege to witness this baby boy being welcomed into his new family. I am reminded of God’s great love for me and his grace to bring me into his family through Jesus.

Lately I have been photographing families in their homes more often than out at a park or other location. While I am not opposed to photographing out at parks or other locations there is something that I love about a session in someone’s home. That is where their story takes place. It is where they are most themselves. It is a comfort zone for children. It is true lifestyle photography.

This year I am launching several lifestyle portrait collections that I am calling my ‘A Year in the Life’ collections. It is an opportunity for you to have your family’s life documented with several sessions over the course of the year and at the end of the year you will get an album of images telling the story of the past year in your family’s life. Now mom, or whoever is usually behind the camera, can be part of the story too. :-)

Amy and her husband Steven are the proud parents of little Jackson Parker and I was excited when Amy contacted me about doing a photo shoot while they were going to be in town last week.  Little Jackson was 5 weeks and so precious. It has been awhile since I have been around a little bitty baby.

It all begins with a pre-design. After all the wedding images are edited and ready to go I sort through and choose what I think are the best images to tell the story of that particular wedding day. Once I have narrowed down the images for the album I then create the design accordingly. The design is then uploaded for my bride and groom to see, make comments for changes and share with their friends and family. After a round or two of edits based on the bride and groom’s preferences the design is sent off to KISS Wedding Books to be printed and hand bound into perfection. So, there is the wedding album process—not that you asked. :-)

I thought I would share my most recent design that I just finished earlier this week. As you will see I love clean lines and crisp white backgrounds–less is more.
