COLE & TYSON [ACORN FAMILIES]

I have been photographing Cole since he was a few months old and his little brother Tyson since he was born. This family happens to be some of my favorite people in the world. It was time for some updated family photos a couple of months ago so we met up for a quick session.

EVELYN [ACORN FAMILIES]

Little Evelyn’s mommy and I went to college together and haven’t seen each other since because she moved up to Boston after getting married. I was excited to get to meet up with Evelyn and her mommy and daddy for a portrait session while they were going to be in MS visiting family. Evelyn has such personality–and we had some great conversations. The session started off when I arrived to find out that she had tried to style her hair with butter at the dinner table only a few minutes before. Life with little ones is so unpredictable. :-) After a nice hair washing and restyle by mom we began our session outside where Evelyn found a rock to carry around. I asked her if her rock had a name– her response: ‘Chrysanthemum.’ Children’s imaginations and Evelyn’s vocabulary never cease to amaze me. We had a really fun session and I certainly hope this isn’t the last time this sweet family makes an appearance in front of my camera. :-)

JUDAH [ACORN BABY]

This sweet little man has already grown so much since this session. I was privileged to photograph Judah’s newborn session awhile ago. He is such a little sweetheart who had quite a dramatic entrance into the world which included a few days in the NICU. It was such a blessing to hear his mommy and daddy tell his birth story and to hear of God’s graciousness in every detail along the way.

Judah was wide awake for all the action during his session.

RHYS [BABY ACORN]

This cutie bug has become one of my favorite little subjects. This is session 3 of 4 of Rhys’s Baby Acorn sessions and I have so enjoyed getting to see him grow. I mean really couldn’t you just eat him up! I keep telling his momma that they are going to have to watch out when he realizes how cute he is and especially when the girls realize how cute he is. ;-)

CARA [ACORN BABY]

After several weeks of a very quiet blog and then studio news on Monday it is time for regular posting to begin again. I have about 10-12 sessions that I will be blogging over the next couple of weeks and first up is Baby Cara and her big sister Reese. I met the girls along with their mommy and daddy at their beautiful home for Cara’s first photo session. She is such a doll and slept through most of her part of the session. Big sister Reese wasn’t so sure about me at first and the whole picture taking thing but she warmed up and we had quite a bit of fun outside after awhile. Her big soulful eyes in this first shot make me smile. I’m looking forward to getting to know these two girls this year as I will be photographing them throughout Cara’s first year.

10 Sessions and a Website

Hello blog world, it has been awhile! Although things have been quiet on the blog for several weeks now that is not the case here at Acorn or at home. Between traveling and our oldest beginning pre-school things have been in constant motion at home as we move from summer life back into something resembling a school year schedule. There has been quite a lot in the works with the studio over the summer months. If you are reading this on the Acorn blog and not via RSS feed, you notice that the blog has received a facelift and if you head over to the main Acorn website you will see it has undergone a complete redesign.

I have spent the better part of the past 3 months working with a wonderful designer on redesigning the Acorn logo and website to help better communicate what Acorn Studio is all about. I couldn’t be more pleased with how everything has turned out and look forward to sharing more with you in another post. Until then, I invite you to take a look at the new site and I would love to know what you think!

In other news, as a new school year begins and everyone settles into the Fall (though it feels nothing like Fall right now in MS) the portrait season gets into full swing. I only have 10 — you read that correctly, 10 — regular portrait session slots available for the remainder of 2011. So, if you have been thinking about scheduling an Acorn session and want to get in before the end of the year, now is the time to schedule!

There are several slots still available for the September 17th and November 4th Mini Sessions. These sessions are perfect for getting a family shot for your holiday cards (a set of cards are actually included in the cost of the session).

I couldn’t resist sharing these two images from a quick session I shot of my own little man yesterday. It dawned on me yesterday morning that he is now sitting up and I needed to make sure and document that — more than pictures on my iPhone. :-)

This is my favorite. I think I might print it as a big canvas, I just don’t know where it will go yet.
