The workshop is with Southern California based photographer, speaker, author, all around great guy– Dane Sanders. I actually had the opportunity to attend one of Dane’s workshops about a year ago in Austin, TX and it was an incredible experience. Since then Dane has been my business coach and become a friend. The things that I learned have transformed the way my business is structured and run as well as had a huge impact on my vision for Acorn Studio– really I don’t think Acorn Studio would have ever been ‘born’ had I not attended Dane’s workshop last year. I also met some really amazing photographers from all over, some of whom I still keep up with.

One of the great things about this workshop is that there are a limited number of seats– so you are sitting in a room of 20 people not 200. The Memphis workshop is being held at Jeff & Allison Rodgers studio (which is actually in Olive Branch)– to hang out at their studio is reason enough to go!

If you are just getting your business off the ground or have only been at it for a few years I would go so far to say that this would be the single best investment you could make in your business right now– even before *gasp* that great lens or camera body you have been eyeing. :-)

Seriously you could make it a full time job going to all of them. Last year one of the workshops I had the opportunity to go to was put on by Dane Sanders, Southern California wedding photographer and author of the book FastTrack Photographer. Dane’s FastTrack workshop had a huge impact on me personally as well as my business and since then Dane has become a friend and mentor and the community of people I have become a part of is incredible. Recently Dane has partnered up with several other industry leaders to put on an event in Newport Beach, California called Escalate.

I am super excited to be going to this event in May. It is a star studded line up of speakers in a venue that looks super fun and I know that I will not only learn a ton but connect with some amazing people. If I have never mentioned it I am mentioning it now— the photography industry is full of some really amazing people!

So why am I telling you all of this? Because if you are a photographer that is interested in making your business vision a reality you should really make an effort to come! Yes, I know that it is relatively short notice, yes, it is all the way in California but they are practically giving away the tickets and I am certain you won’t regret going. Hey– I am making it happen even though May is the busiest month for me this year, I have a two year old and I hate flying. :-)
