I’m loosing track but this is the 3rd or 4th time I have offered this class and it has always been a really fun time of learning. My favorite part is always when I start seeing light bulbs go off as attendees begin understanding how their cameras really work for the first time.

Have you ever made an attempt at reading your camera manual? If so, you may have felt a bit like you were reading a different language. While I am a big advocate of reading the manual, it doesn’t do much good if you don’t know what any of the settings or terms mean. This class is for anyone who owns a digital SLR (you can switch out your lenses) camera and wants to learn how to use it beyond ‘Auto’. We will focus entirely on the technicals of your camera and shooting, this is not about the business of photography.

Date: Friday, February 17

Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (approx)

Place: My Home

Cost: $75 (includes muffins & coffee for breakfast, lunch and print material)

The class is limited to 10 people. We will be spending time in both the ‘classroom’ as well as getting out to do some actual shooting. Seriously you could make it a full time job going to all of them. Last year one of the workshops I had the opportunity to go to was put on by Dane Sanders, Southern California wedding photographer and author of the book FastTrack Photographer. Dane’s FastTrack workshop had a huge impact on me personally as well as my business and since then Dane has become a friend and mentor and the community of people I have become a part of is incredible. Recently Dane has partnered up with several other industry leaders to put on an event in Newport Beach, California called Escalate.

I am super excited to be going to this event in May. It is a star studded line up of speakers in a venue that looks super fun and I know that I will not only learn a ton but connect with some amazing people. If I have never mentioned it I am mentioning it now— the photography industry is full of some really amazing people!

So why am I telling you all of this? Because if you are a photographer that is interested in making your business vision a reality you should really make an effort to come! Yes, I know that it is relatively short notice, yes, it is all the way in California but they are practically giving away the tickets and I am certain you won’t regret going. Hey– I am making it happen even though May is the busiest month for me this year, I have a two year old and I hate flying. :-)

A quick update on the workshop coming up on Friday, January 22nd. There are several seats still available and I would love to have as many of you that are interested come. We are going to have a great time packing our brains with as much photography info as possible.  A few house keeping things regarding the workshop…

1. I have had a lot of inquiries for more information and I have responded to all of those requests. If you asked me for more info and have not received an email from me, first check your spam folder (for whatever reason my email seems to like spam folders) if you don’t find an email from me there, please let me know ASAP and I will get the info over to you.

2. I have had several responses saying ‘sign me up!’ and although I have responded to those emails, just in case they are in a spam folder :-), I want to make sure you know that you are required to pay a $50 deposit to reserve your seat so I will have an accurate count for preparation purposes.

3. Also for the sake of preparation, the deadline to sign up for the workshop is Monday, January 18th.

4. Finally, if cost is an issue, please let me know so we can work something out. I don’t offer this workshop for the sake of making money, I offer it because I love photography and I love to teach and share my passion with anyone interested in learning.

I’m excited to finally have this set up and running. I had planned to wait and roll this out after the new year, but well, I just couldn’t wait– so here you go.

After very encouraging feedback from the 101 a workshop I offered back in September, I am excited to announce the 2nd 101 a workshop which will be on Friday, January 22nd. Below is some more info, and if you need a last minute Christmas gift for the photography lover in your family, this could be great one. After announcing it several months ago and receiving such a great response I was really looking forward to it. There were a great group of women that attended and I was so encouraged by them.

A BIG THANK YOU to Lindsey Scott for all of her help. She kept us well fed throughout the day and was a huge encouragement to me as I prepared for the workshop. Lindsey is also to thank for the first 3 photos in this post. :-)

Also, thank you to Angela, our model. She did a great job modeling for us and having lots of cameras pointed in her face. :-)

Thank you to all of you ladies that joined me on Friday. It was a blessing to get to know you!
