I had a wedding day first at Chris and Shalon’s wedding a couple of weekends ago. (Yes, I’m a bit behind in my blogging, please forgive me) I arrived at First Baptist Jackson Chapel to begin shooting Shalon and her girls getting ready only to find that the power was out. This was the first time I photographed a wedding at 1st Baptist Chapel and I quickly discovered there is little to no natural light to be found inside, making the no power situation even more of an adventure. The power was eventually restored, only to go off again, but it was back on in time for the ceremony. Then we arrived at the reception at the MS Craft Center to find the power was off there as well! Everything turned out great, but it was certainly an interesting day with the bad weather and off and on power.
Despite circumstances that no bride dreams of for her wedding day, Shalon was calm and cool with a great sense of humor. I don’t even recall her making much comment on the power situation. She and Chris enjoyed their wedding day with their family and friends and made no fuss about the details. It really was such a pleasure to be a part of such a beautiful union between two beautiful people. Chris and Shalon, thank you for having me be a part of your wedding day!
A big thanks to Aaron Phillips for shooting with me. All of the shots of Chris getting ready with his guys are courtesy of Aaron!
