Photographing 2 year olds– well any toddler for that matter– can be interesting (I know, I have one). I just never know what I am walking into and sometimes with all their energy and activeness I feel like the only thing I am going to get is the back of their head. Staying engaged in their world is key and although not always easy it yields great results. Also, letting them dictate the session — with a bit of gentle guidance — allows little ones to open up and have fun while I shoot. Fun is definitely a must with any session in my book, but particularly with little ones.
Little Jack is 2 and all boy, as they would say– whoever ‘they’ is. :-) I met up with Jack and his mom and grandmom at the Ag Museum for some portrait fun. We looked at tractors, Jack found a game of checkers and he even ‘drove’ a car. The range of expressions he has is so cute and I think I managed to document quite a few of them.
Here are a few favorites…
Always on the go. :-)
